One Hour Photo – This is a very impressive debut. Another time when Robin Williams isn’t playing Robin Williams.
Never Let Me Go – It sure took Romanek long enough to make another film. Granted, he had been attached to that disaster The Wolfman for awhile, but the old Hollywood standby “creative differences” reared it’s head and he left the project. This film isn’t as much a ripoff of Parts: The Clonus Horror as you might think. The sci-fi aspect is very minimal and it’s a pretty low key film throughout. Carey Mulligan is proving she’s not a flash-in-the-pan, and Andrew Garfield has been racking up some pretty good roles over the last few years. Keira Knightly is alright, and may be the weakest link. This is better than I thought it was going to be.
