Henri-Georges Clouzot

Henri-Georges Clouzot

Le Corbeau – Not based on the work of Edger Allen Poe. He made this during the Nazi occupation. This was his not so subtle comment on collaborators. For his troubles, he was fired and blacklisted.

Quai des Orfèvres – Don’t ask me how to pronounce it. His first film after the war and he was taken off the blacklist.

The Wages of Fear – I think this is his best film. Some may disagree, but you’d be wrong. Double feature with Sorcerer (you may notice some similarities).

Les Diabolique – If you prefer the Sharon Stone version, kill yourself now.
